KeymasterTHE DOUBLE OR NOTHING EXERCISE PART I
We are all on the same journey. We all know what it is like to taste conscience, to taste unity, and to be in the place called Purgatory.
Fortunately in our lifetime, we were able to discover the April Fools exercise; an exercise that creates a unification, which produces a state called self-consciousness… wherein a man can see himself.
For quite some time now, I have been trying to discover what the defining moment was, in my awakening, which allowed me to escape Purgatory and acquire objective reason… and, if there was such a moment, could it be formulated – in such a way – that an understanding of it would allow others to do the same and, also, achieve the state of objective reason, impartiality, and all that follows.
I looked at it for a long time. I even put the question to higher feedback. Unfortunately, all I got back was the response that “there is insufficient data”. So, I kept putting in data… kept putting in data. And the other day, while having a conversation with two students, one of them reminded me of something that I had told them, when they had sought my counsel about things that were occurring in their inner world, wherein, I gave them the formulation, “If you don’t get rid of your accounts, you won’t move”.
That was the right piece of data for them at the time; and, they made great effort to destroy the accounts, which they were holding against the parties in discussion… and, for them, things became different, things changed.
After our conversation, I came back to the house and found myself sitting in the kitchen looking at the diagram of oscillations… majors and minors… thinking about what the student had said… and while holding all of this data in my mind, I remembered something, something I had forgotten… and, in remembering it, it offered the final piece of data that was needed for my Higher to be able to give me the answer.
So, that is why I have asked you to assemble here today. To give you that answer.
If we examine the three-story structure of man, we can see that in each story there is an essence part and a personality part. Notice that, in each story, the intellectual part of essence – a minor oscillation – is connected to the mechanical part of personality – a major oscillation https://secureservercdn.net/160.153.137.170/o5y.966.myftpupload.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Chapter-3-Cards%E2%80%94actual.pdf The intellectual part of essence, by attaining a certain measure of control, allows the beginning of the mechanical part of personality.
Control means opposites! Control means opposites! Control means opposites!
Opposite chemistry, in the intellectual part of the instinctive center, starts automatic movement, i.e., with opposites of chemistry, the automatic part of the moving center begins to function.
Opposite meaning, in the intellectual part of the emotional center, allows intelligence, i.e., with opposite meaning, the mechanical part of the intellectual center begins to function.
And, in the higher emotional center, there must be some measure of control/opposites in the intellectual part of the higher emotional center for the mechanical part of the higher mental center to begin functioning (notice that, in the higher emotional center… the intellectual part is the entire emotional center).
We all know that a man who is asleep, will have moments of self-remembering; and, a man who is awake, will have moments of impartiality. But how do we bring those moments under control?
How do we make them permanent?
Just as the man, who is asleep, who is trying to seek an objective way to make the moments of self-remembering permanent, can achieve it through April Fools; the man who is awake, who is also seeking an objective way to make his moments of impartiality permanent, can achieve that through what I am now about to reveal.
It is called Double or Nothing.
The final piece of data went as follows: I remembered a moment that happened during a baseball game. I remembered… sitting on the bench… our team was up to bat… and in the chaos of everyone around me, both from my team and from the opposing team, there were contradictory wishes for the guy who was up to bat… to either do good or to do bad. And, as – at the time – I was working on myself, I decided that I would try to be different than everyone else. I would try to create a model in which everybody’s wish was considered.
So, I hoped that the guy got a hit because that would fulfill his wish. At the same time, I had to consider the wish of the pitcher and acknowledge that he wanted to get the guy out. And, if the guy did get a hit, I had to acknowledge the wish of guy that was in the infield, who wanted to snatch the ball and throw it to the guy on first base, who in turn wished to catch the ball and get the guy out… and, at the same time, I hoped that the guy who was running to first base, would be safe.
From that day forward, and as a result of this model, something started to change in me.
And, today, when I remembered that moment, I got this response from my Master…. It is called Double or Nothing. The HIGHER said, “If you’re going to make the journey past conscience, you’ve got to understand Double or Nothing, i.e., if you don’t become twice yourself, you won’t come to nothing”.
Well, you obviously can’t double what you are, but what you can do is become “you” and the “opposite of you”… and, in that way, you will become double.
This truth illuminated my inner world like the Sun. I could see it was the same in all centers: The intellectual part of the instinctive center must possess opposites of chemistry or there will be no movement; the intellectual part of the emotional center must possess opposites of meaning or there will be no intelligence; and the intellectual part of the higher emotional center must possess opposite emotions or there will be no reason.
So whatever is presented in you, you must find a way to also possess the opposite of that. And in that way, you will become twice what you are.
The moment you recognize some feeling being created in you, from your emotional center, you must in your greatest strength, offer something back, i.e., create a line of thinking that creates an opposite feeling in you… contrary to the one created in you by your emotional center.
You must become the opposite of you. You must become two of you. You must become double.
Example: I am driving down the freeway. Another car, going very fast, driving like a bat out of hell, passes me, cuts in front of me and almost hits me… then it zips past the slower moving driver that was in his lane, and cuts back in front of him… weaving in and out of traffic. I am irritated at this jerk. “He almost hit me. S.O.B!!” I even feel an urge to accelerate and chase him down, so I can cut him off. “I’ll show him”. I am mad at him… and filled with ire.
But what if, at that moment, I “doubled”. I imagine that this fast-crazy-driving guy has his young daughter in the back seat. She had fallen out the upstairs window and was unconscious. He is frantic, and is just trying to get her to the emergency room to save her life.
Am I still mad at him? Am I still filled with ire? Do I still want to chase him down and cut him off?
On the contrary. I may still have an urge to accelerate and catch up to him… but not to cut him off. Now I want to pass him and lead the way to the hospital. I feel good about this guy. He’s a hero, not a jerk.
By doubling and creating a scenario that created an opposite feeling in me, I have nullified the bias of the first feeling.
That is how you double.
If the feeling is a little feeling, create an opposite little story to create an opposite little feeling in you. If it is a big feeling, create an opposite big story to create an opposite big feeling in you.
You may not be able to create two of you… but, you can become your own opposite and, thus, become free of your own bias, your own opinion, and your own judgment.
OTHER EXAMPLES OF DOUBLING:
I thought I would share a few other scenarios that may assist you in the process of doubling.
There are several ways to double. You can double at the moment, before the moment, or after the moment.
You can double “before” or “after” the moment with exercises like “two ends of the stick”, “insulate yourself”, or “active reasoning” as they can double things before or after you encounter them… and, are great ways to free yourself from the subject of those exercises.
The “at the moment” doubling is like having something in your pocket that you can instantly pull out and defeat “the sword of Damocles,” the instant that it appears over your head.
Many events happen in life that are not covered in the brochure titled, “Anticipated Perils of the Journey.” Thus, the “two ends of the stick,” the “insulate yourself,” and the “active reasoning” exercises may not be able to help you at those moments. Instead, you need a dependable weapon, which you can whoop out at a moment’s notice. So, for those moments, “doubling” is the “weapon” you want to have in your pocket.
Thus, at the moment you get pissed off because the guy cut you off, you whoop “doubling” out and say, “His injured daughter is in the back seat and he is rushing to the hospital”… Boom, DOUBLED, pissed off feeling – Gone…
Or, at the moment you get upset because the neighbor’s kid left his bike in your driveway and you were forced you to stop and get out of your car to move his bike, you whoop “doubling” out and say, “Ain’t it great that all the neighborhood kids want to come to my house and play with my kids… boy, my kids are lucky to have so many friends”… Boom, DOUBLED, upset feeling – Gone…
Or, at the moment you get angry because two people, who you thought were your friends, start to whisper when you enter the room (which, surely, means that they are saying something bad about you), you whoop “doubling” out and say, “Oh my God, my friends are planning a surprise party for me and want to keep it a secret so as to not ruin the surprise” … Boom, DOUBLED, angry feeling – Gone…
Or, at the moment you get sad because you lost a $20 bill that was blown out of your hand, you whoop “doubling” out and say, “Some nice young girl who is in a desperate place is gonna find my $20 bill at her moment of despair… and, for her, it will be a life saving event and become a self remembering moment. One, that, when she looks back, will always cause her to smile… Boom, DOUBLED, feeling of sadness over your loss – Gone…
The aim is to double undesirable feelings at the moment they occur.
However, if you cannot think of a double at the moment of experiencing some undesirable feeling… and, it takes you several days “to get your mind right” by using the “two ends of the stick,” the “insulate yourself,” or the “active reasoning” exercises to finally think of an appropriate double, that’s OK.
Or, if something in the course of your life has placed a bad taste in your mouth, you may need to use the “two ends of the stick,” the “insulate yourself,” or the “active reasoning” exercise to hold something “opposite” against it until it is finally annihilated.
After reading this to my wife, she said, “You know, looking back at my journey there were some things that I didn’t want to double. I liked my suffering. I enjoyed the illusion that I was right; and, I knew that if I doubled those things I would not enjoy them any longer… so, I put them off until later, or shoved them to the very end. But, if a man really wishes to be free, he will get enough courage to slay those nasty bastards, too… I did”.
Ah, the wisdom of the minor oscillation, eh?
REMEMBER:
This is a two-stage exercise… so start doubling yourself. I will watch, and I will listen, and I will observe, and I will see who wishes to become their own opposite. And, when you are ready and have made the proper force, you will receive the second stage of this exercise.
So, from this day forward, I want you to make your greatest effort to choose to be the opposite of yourself. Whatever you feel… make sure you create an opposite feeling by creating an intellectual scenario that evokes it.
Remember, I want you to be able to, simultaneously, do both. Try to hold both feelings at the same time.
