A question was asked about exercises that were learned from other teachers and Fourth Way groups.

    Answer:

A student made a comment last night, at dinner, that got my higher thinking.

They said, while having tea with their dinner, how they were going to miss that when they got back home. We asked, "Don’t you have tea"?

They replied that, "Yes, but we can’t drink when we eat"… and told me how no one could drink when they ate cause someone told them that… and since they ate at others’ homes or had guest eat at their home, etc., that they had to follow the rules of the group!

My higher Spidey Senses went off like the RED ALERT warning in a submarine.

My higher informed me, this morning, that such practices may be harmful to an awakened being… Lord knows, how many other practices people are following (which may work well for artificial beings but not so much for real beings).

Gurdjieff tells us how the science and medicine of sleeping men (since they never had real men to study or practice on) is like botanists telling us how to care for real flowers when all they ever studied was artificial flowers.

In Meetings with Remarkable Men it says, "Let God kill him who himself does not know yet presumes to show others the way to the doors of his kingdom".

So, if you are following this "don’t drink when you eat" exercise, I would offer this (as indicated in Meetings)… my advice, STOP ALL SUCH PRACTICES (learned from sleeping people about how to care for sleeping people). Trust your higher… and the feedback you receive from your own body.

Maybe you will find that drinking while eating is bad for you… or maybe you will find that drinking while eating is good for you. Not because some Hasnamuss told you so… but because your body did.

So tell everyone to beware of taking supplements, ingesting certain herbal "necessities", eating vegetables in a particular way, not drinking when they eat, only pissing while facing north, or any of the other advice or practices culled from sleeping people regarding man’s well being.

I would advocate eating "everything satisfying" and let your body and your higher weed out any baddies.

    Love,

    Russ
