To Double or Nothing Part II Students,

A student asked, "How do I recognize the stages that define the journey and know what efforts to make along the way or to make next?"

    Hi, Russ,
We had another delightful meeting today, and one of the topics that came up was our progress along that famous LA-TI interval. Someone made the point that since we had all reached Double or Nothing 2, and experienced ‘the Nothing’, that we were in a position similar to that after April Fools: we now each had a new passenger in the carriage, the Owner. Therefore, as after April Fools, we no longer had to keep jumping on the pedal to start the motor. Rather the effort to be made is to Remember that we have the Owner in the carriage, and to act accordingly (ride the motorcycle, drive the carriage) — to live one’s life in the knowledge of the presence of that Owner in the carriage. I took it that the effort to really Listen to others (especially our spouses), would be an example of ‘riding the motorcycle’.

Some of us struggle with this a bit, because we are still so identified (or I am at least, to speak for myself) with the I’s that have been making this "effort to remember myself’ for so many years. Without this familiar "efforting", the questions always seem to arise: "Who am I now, then, and what should I be doing now?"

But I’m also sensing the truth of the possibility that, in some real sense, the journey is over, and I have achieved the striving to pay for my arising. And therefore the effort has more to do with remembering that fact, and the feeling that comes with it, and the wealth of that.

Could you give me (and others, perhaps) a bit of advice on negotiating this part of the journey??

Thank you, most esteemed Guide! (I kid you not…for I already know that you will answer, and that your answer will be very useful to me….)

    I responded thus:

    Hi All,

    Sounds like a great gathering.

Many have spent the majority of their lifetimes wishing to ride the bicycle of consciousness. And like a real bike, which we learned to ride in our youth, we probably all had a shaky start – someone had to run alongside and hold us up… and if they didn’t we fell over and scraped our knee. Some of us had training wheels. But once we learned "balance" riding the bike was easy – no more training wheels or the need for dad to run alongside and hold us up – we got good at it and could even put our feet up on the handlebars.

For most of us, learning that balance only took a few months, after all, many people before us already knew how to ride. We could see them riding, which encouraged us to seek the balance required, and allowed us to recognize when we had acquired that skill and could actually manifest it… without scraping our knee.

But work balance was much more difficult to obtain and observe because no one knew how to ride and thus no one could show us what the work balance looked like. Awakened states were foreign to us… or fleeting encounters. We didn’t trust our balance nor the instructions that came from folks, who we inwardly sensed didn’t know how to ride, yet were telling us how to… and as loyal students we blindly went through the motions – diligently following their instructions – yet to no avail. But we did become good skeptics. It was hard to persuade us to believe in Yogic Flying.

Many years later – and after finding an objective way… and hopefully awakening Steward – we must now learn to trust our newfound balance, that is, if we indeed have it. So we first ask ourselves, "Can we stop thoughts? Can we occupy the place with whichever thought we choose? Have we doubled everything… even our political persuasions? Do we know what conscience feels like? Do we recognize when the reason and impartiality of Master enters? Are moments of Nothing interwoven in our activities of something? Are we just pretending to be awake… or do we actually experience many of the above?"

If we do, then we must accept our balance. We can now take off the training wheels… put our feet up on the handlebars – and ride.

Perhaps it is the meaning behind having the faith of a mustard seed.

    Trust the Force, Luke.

    Be the tree.

And, if your not sure of your balance, find someone who has attained "nothing" and watch him ride… until you recognize that balance in yourself.

    Hope this helps.

    Love,

    Russ

Here are some additional musings I conjured up today – also about the journey and recognizable stages along the way:

    DOUBLE TO IMPARTIALITY

    First Death

The First Perpetual Motion – the Emergence of Conscience

    To Awake

The Intellectual Center. Deputy Steward. Vincet Omnia Veritas. Cosmic Secret’s Spark, Kick Starts the Being and Allows Man to Unify the Three Lower Centers into One Center – the Higher Emotional Center

Conscience Must be Awakened First… so that it can Cleanse the Intellect

Reason is Impossible with False Data

Master Exercises Spark the Intellectual Center – now functioning as the Mechanical Part of The Higher Mental Center – into Action

The Intellectual Center now Becomes the Flint

Every Moment of Doubling Strikes the Flint and Sparks the Reason until “Real I” Emerges

    Second Death

The Second Perpetual Motion – the Emergence of Impartiality

    To Die

The Mechanical Part of the Higher Mental Center – Intellect, now Functioning as Reason, Kick Starts the Conscience and allows Man to again Unify the Three Lower Centers… but this time, into becoming just One Part of a Center – the Emotional Part of the Higher Mental Center

We Keep Doubling until Conscience Churns into Impartiality and becomes “Real AM”

    We become Nothing

    Nothing IS Impartiality

Now, with Reason (Real I) and Impartiality (Real AM) both Present, we can Unify THEM and Transcend the LA-TI Interval – by bringing all Four Lower Centers into One Place – where they Together begin to Function in the Highest Part of the Highest Center – the Intellectual Part of the Higher Mental Center

Third Death or, if you wish, Rebirth… TI-DO can now be Fashioned into DO-RE

The Third Perpetual Motion – the Emergence of Immortality

    Being Born Again

    Love,

    Russ
