How often do you try to hold only one thought. . . keeping all other thoughts out?

How long can you do it?

What are the forces keeping you from practicing it?

What are the forces that bring you to it?

According to an old Chinese proverb, “A man who can follow a thought for three minutes can rule the world.”

Should we take this concept outwardly or inwardly. . . or both?

If we can hold the place. . . we rule our inner world; and if we rule our inner world we are free from the outer world.

Views from the Real World: “Liberation leads to liberation. These are the first words of truth.”

The dilemma is how to do this.

We must begin by creating a constant in one center, i.e., we may not be yet able to hold one thought and keep everything else out, but we might be able to keep one thought constant amongst the chaos of other thoughts.

To not say the word “I” is an attempt to keep one thought constant.

If a man makes great force, he can keep one thought in mind for a considerable length of time even though there is an unending stream of changing thoughts coming from other places in him.

Later he may be able to so focus on the one thought, that this incessant stream is obliterated and he comes to taste for himself the dual liberation of which we have spoken.
