This aphorism is about the love of the three storeys of a person – lower and higher centers. Conscious love is from the higher emotional centre, and is pure external considering with all lower centers unified. A conscious act or sacrifice or giving, that will arouse a conscious response from those receiving. Emotional love is from the middle storey, is possessive in nature, and will turn 180 degrees eventually. Physical love is the lowest, based on physical urges with little involvement of thought, emotion or conscience.
